Invitation to the study: The Experience of Cancer for Rural Wyoming Adult Oncology Patients
Posted 10 months ago
Experiencing cancer can be very challenging for those living in a rural state like Wyoming. Dr. Jennifer Stephens, a long-time oncology nurse and assistant professor in the Fay W. Whitney School of Nursing at the University of Wyoming, is looking to speak with Wyoming oncology patients and those who care for them.
Dr. Stephens is a qualitative researcher interested in the lived experience of cancer, exploring both how it impacts people and how healthcare providers can improve the cancer journey. This type of research is critical for improving cancer care and in advocating for patients in Wyoming. Dr. Stephens wants to talk with patients and healthcare providers willing share their stories confidentially over the phone, over ZOOM, or in person.
This study is funded by the National Institute of Health (NIH) INBRE Wyoming grant and has received approval from the UW ethics board (#20230418JS03540). If you are a healthcare provider who works with Wyoming patients, or if you are someone who resides in Wyoming who has or has had cancer and wants to share your experience, please reach out to Dr. Stephens at jsteph35@uwyo.edu or call 307-766-6563.
