The Wyoming Nurses Association (WNA) is thrilled to announce the dates for the highly anticipated 2026 Legislative Days! This two-day event offers Wyoming nurses an essential opportunity to step directly into the world of health policy, governmental affairs, and professional advocacy. Join us in Cheyenne, Wyoming, on February 26-27, 2026, to learn how to effectively influence the laws that shape your practice and patient care.
Day 1: Education and Advocacy Training (Feb 26)
The first day of the conference will be held at Laramie County Community College, focusing on in-depth education and skill-building. Attendees will benefit from a lineup of expert speakers and critical topics:
- National Perspective: Gain crucial insight into federal healthcare policy directly from the American Nurses Association (ANA) Policy and Governmental Affairs Team.
- Regulatory Essentials: Hear from Robin Cole of the Wyoming State Board of Nursing on key state regulatory issues impacting your license and profession.
- The Power of Policy: Learn about the new Hoskinson Government and Policy Center and its role in advancing nursing advocacy in Wyoming.
- Protecting Your Practice: Attend an essential session focused on how to protect your professional nursing license.
- Interactive Session: WNA Lobbyist Toni Decklever will lead an engaging, interactive session detailing the journey of how a bill becomes a law in the Wyoming legislature.
Day 2: Action at the Capitol (Feb 27)
Day two moves to the heart of state governance: the Wyoming State Capitol Building. This is your chance to see the legislative process in action and interact with lawmakers:
- Legislative Immersion: Attendees will attend meetings of the Labor, Health and Social Services Committee, observing firsthand how nursing and healthcare issues are debated and decided.
- Capitol Experience: Participate in a tour of the Capitol and conclude the event by meeting with Senators and Representatives over lunch, giving you a direct platform to share your experiences and advocate for your patients and profession.
